Mission : Altran is seeking a mechanical engineer with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in power plant and industrial systems engineering and design. Candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of accomplishment as a lead design and project engineer. Candidate will be responsible for specification of mechanical equipment and working with clients and internal engineers to establish equipment requirements along with providing direction and coordination of a team of engineers and designers to successfully complete design of large industrial projects in Power, Refining, and Petro-Chemical industries.
Responsibilities:
• Work independently as well as lead a team of others to perform overall system
engineering and design from conceptual design basis through construction and start-up.
• Establish design criteria, prepare feasibility studies, prepare procurement specifications, evaluate bids, prepare construction specifications, support field personnel and manage contracts for large industrial engineering and design projects.
• Technical signoff responsibility for the project’s mechanical engineering & design.
• Interface with all other disciplines and coordinate with client personnel, project management, procurement, construction management, contractors/suppliers, etc.
• Oversee and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Prepare and present project status and forecasts to internal management and external clients.
• Prepare proposals in response to client RFP’s including the written scope of work and associated man-hour/cost estimates for lump sum projects.
• Assist business development managers with technical support in securing new clients and business.
Profile : Qualifications:
• Extensive experience in system design and operation of heavy equipment, pumps, compressors, boilers, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, tanks, and piping.
• Work with designers to develop proper equipment arrangements, piping layout drawings and relevant subsystems and complementary systems.
• Experience with piping stress analysis and support design for high energy piping systems.
• Very strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, design, and construction and be experienced with applicable codes, standards and industry practices (ASME B&PVC, ANSI, B31.1, B31.3, etc.).
• Experienced in developing detailed specifications for the main process equipment (boiler, turbine, air-cooled condenser, fuel handling) and specifying and procuring major power plant equipment from major suppliers.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel on all levels.
• Experience with mature and modern fossil power plant design, construction, and operational methods.
• Experience working with utilities and generation firms
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with power related courses.
• Professional Engineering Registration (PE) preferred
• Willingness for Travel throughout the eastern seaboard
