At our sites in Wheeling, Illinois, Pfaffenhofen Germany and Shenzhen China, the LED Solutions group develops and manufactures complex LED products for a wide range of applications, including surgical and endoscopic illumination, airfield signaling, hazardous-area lighting, dental lamps, aerospace, and medical therapy.

We are currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for our Wheeling, IL location. With general direction from his/her manager, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for transferring new products from R&D to Manufacturing, supporting existing products in Manufacturing, and continuously improving our manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

· Work with production to continuously improve manufacturing methods.

· Collaborate with R&D on project teams to develop manufacturable designs and then implement manufacturing processes for those new products.

· Design and implement tooling and fixturing to assemble and test new products and to improve efficiency of existing manufacturing.

· Responsible for selecting, procuring, and validating manufacturing equipment and machinery.

· Develop and ECO release detailed manufacturing work instructions.

· Analyze customer problems with existing products and implement corrective actions.

· Maintain and improve the design of existing products.

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree (BSME, BSIE or equivalent) required. A degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering is preferred but not required.

· Six or more years of industry experience after Bachelor’s Degree, including several years as a Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineer, or equivalent.

· Knowledge and prior experience in the concepts and application of Lean Manufacturing and statistics.

· Prior experience developing mechanical assembly fixtures.

· Detailed knowledge of current fabrication methods, including aluminum die-casting, machining, sheet metal, plastic injection molding, circuit boards, and aluminum extrusion.

· Proficiency and current experience in at least one 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or ProEngineer.

· Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in standard office computer applications (MS Word, Excel, and Project).
