Senior Optical Engineer/Lens Designer reporting into the Imaging Team at Motorola. Experienced engineer with 14+ years experience needed to assist with the design of cell phone camera modules and lenses. Responsibilities include Optical design, Ray tracing, Stray Light analysis, high volume yield analysis, Optical metrology measurements, including MTF, Distortion, Relative Illumination, lens aberrations with emphasis on understanding Image Quality impact of such. Lens characterization.
Leadership skills a must. Required to drive and manage lens suppliers and partners. Excellent laboratory skills. Experience with lens design SW like codeV or Zeemax. Matlab, C/C++. Able to work across organizational boundaries w/ cross discipline team.
Engineer will drive camera lens specifications and in-camera lens performance. Engineer will measure all optical performance attributes of lens and camera modules including MTF, FOV, F/#, distortion, relative illumination, module tilt and other measurements. Complete characterization of lenses both in laboratory and across large production volumes.
Good familiarity with Trioptics MTF measurements. Comfortable driving both internal team and suppliers to optimize for both high IQ and high yield. MP characterization of critical to function parameters and attributes of lens design
Understanding of lens interactions with other imaging subcomponents including, color filter arrays (including thin film effects), interaction of sensors with optical components such as IRCFs and Lenses.
Familiarity with MEMS a plus
Knowledge of digital image processing a plus, including defect and lens correction algorithms.
MS/ PhD preferred – Physics, Optics, EE
Code V, Zemax or equivalent, Matlab, C++
