Senior Plasma Scientist-Engineer

Job Description
Veeco is currently seeking a driven, enthusiastic senior plasma scientist/engineer for the plasma development programs for Veeco’s ALD division located in Fremont, CA. You will be responsible for designing, testing of different plasma sources and applying them to our FAST (Fast Array Scanning Technology) ALD systems.

Responsibilities
•BS Initiate design, development, execution and implementation of technology research projects
•Investigate feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products
•Plan, execute, and manage various plasma development projects
•Conduct hands-on experimental lab testing and validation
•Analyze and interpret the data using thin film analysis technique such as AES, XPS, SIMS, XRR, FTIR, AFM, SEM, TEM
•Work with cross-functional team to create requirements and perform feasibility study in our FAST ALD systems
•Lead and support in troubleshooting of system issues related to plasma source

Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree highly preferred
•Minimum 10 years of related experience in thin film processing plasma development
•The candidate must have experience in:?Vacuum systems
?Semiconductor industry-related thin film deposition
?Various plasma power sources
?Capacitive Coupled Plasma
?Inductive Coupled Plasma
?Plasma electrode cooling
?RF power split
?PEALD / PECVD deposition and thin film analysis (XPS, FTIR)
?Hands-on experimental lab experience, design of experiment knowledge, and statistical analysis methods
•Experience in plasma source development for PEALD / PECVD is plus.
•Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team
•Good organizational, communication, and prioritization skills
•Large substrate experience is preferred
•Able to travel domestically and internationally for product support
