Responsible for the development and commercialization of materials technology that is leveraged by our product development teams. These products include: new and revised products, materials and components for Victaulic and its subsidiaries. Furthermore, the Senior Project Engineer must have a combined 5 years experience in finite element analysis of non-metallic (composites, elastomers), metallic systems and non-isotropic products using either Algor, Ansys, or more specifically Abacus stress analysis, and a familiarity with Solid Works Engineering design. Minimum combined 5 years experience of product development in metallic and non-metallic products.
A. Responsible for concept development which often includes:
1. Concept generation
2. Specific design ideas to satisfy concept(s)
3. Presentation and communication of ideas
4. Modeling of concept (via drawings and hardware)
5. Interfacing with Marketing/Sales to refine concept to meet customer requirements
6. Addressing Manufacturability and costing of initial design
7. Project and/or procurement authorization preparation and comprehensive presentation to management
B. Leading of a multi-departmental team (formal or informal) in the execution of detailed design through the release of product to market including:
1. Design to meet requirements and manufacturability issues
2. Detail drawing review and approval
3. Vendor selection participation (in-house or out)
4. Prototyping
5. Testing against requirements
6. Solving design problems
7. Scrutiny and review of detailed cost estimates
8. Leading a design review to assure customer and performance requirements are met
9. Resolving tolerance issues
10. Development of EI/EP's as appropriate.
11. Participation in tooling selection
12. Approval of tooling based on samples
13. Participation in evaluation of pilot production runs and problem solving
14. Technical literature preparation and approval
15. Education/training of Victaulic Marketing/Sales and Engineering Services about new products.
C. Mentoring less experienced personnel.
D. Responsible for aiding Engineering Services in the usage recommendation of existing Victaulic Product Technology related-products.
E. Specific policies and procedures have been established by the Engineering Department to provide for the security and accessibility of electronic data and confidential information. It is the responsibility of the employee, in the daily course of doing business, to follow said policies as they relate to document management (see EOG-26). The extent to which departmental research and development information is stored electronically has vastly increased, and will continue to do so. The new Federal rules pertaining to electronic discovery stipulate that substantive email communications constituted ""records"" under the Federal Records Act. It is therefore the responsibility of each departmental employee to understand their role in communicating via e-mails and that all e-mails must be written/responded to in a professional manner, as outlined in EOG-26.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. BSME, BME, BSCE or BS in Materials Science
2. Minimum 10 Years of commercially successful product development or related experience.
3. Multiple successful project management experiences inclusive of taking projects from concept to production.
4. Creative, able to generate concepts with good potential, that meet project requirements.
5. Demonstrated business acumen. |
