Senior Scientist, Target Biology
Job Description
Alder is currently seeking an experienced Scientist to lead discovery projects aimed at the identification of novel antibody drugs in traditional and non-traditional antibody-based therapeutic settings.
This individual needs to be able to propose novel therapeutic areas to expand our pipeline, through the use of our antibody discovery and antibody manufacturing technologies. He or she will also have responsibility for the formulation, implementation and execution of work plans directed towards the discovery of novel therapeutic antibodies, and will be expected to manage and mentor Research Associates as appropriate. Alder operates in a cross functional setting and the individual must be effective in a matrix environment. The successful candidate must have a command of the scientific review literature, a sound understanding of patents and patent applications, be able to establish relationships with potential external collaborators and develop efficient cross-departmental relationships within Alder.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in the biological sciences (pain-related filed or immunology preferred) with a minimum of 2 years post-doctoral experience as well as 3+ years of experience in an industry setting. Prior research experience in the area of biopharmaceutical drug discovery is required and familiarity with the discovery of biologics is greatly preferred. Strong cellular biology skills, including the development of functional assays for the screening of therapeutic agents are needed. Prior experience with the execution and/or management of preclinical models of pain, inflammation and/or metabolic disease is highly desired. The individual must have a proven track record of independent project planning and management. He or she is expected to have strong communications skills and be capable of delivering novel ideas and project opportunities including the proposal of specific experimental paths for execution. Familiarity with the drafting of regulatory documents is a plus.
