Job Description | Position Summary:
The Senior Technical Application Scientist position will focus on developing end-point applications using iPSC-derived terminal cell types commercialized by CDI. The ideal candidate would have specific experience with Hepatocytes (ie. primary cells, iPSC-derived, HepG2, HepaRG). This position will provide technical expertise within the Applications Team by developing, optimizing, and publishing both methods and results in the form of User Guides, Application Notes, scientific posters, or peer-reviewed journal articles. Additionally, a successful candidate would demonstrate balance between independent work ethic, initiative, and creativity with the ability to play a role on an established team focused on execution and timely achievement of both team and company goals. This position will interact heavily with both commercial and R&D organizations within CDI, as well as directly with customers as needed.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Develop and refine a wide range of end-point assays across multiple technology platforms to show the utility of iPSC-derived terminal cell types, with a focus on hepatocytes (and other human cell types derived from endoderm)
•Collaborate externally with customers and other vendors to generate application data
•Work closely with Sales and Product Management teams to gather customer feedback and requirements for the use of iPSC-derived cell types
•Train both Sales and field-based FAS teams on technical applications
•Contribute to iCertification training programs held at CDI
•Mentor junior team members in technical writing, experimental design, recording and analysis of data, as well as scientific theory
Essential Job Requirements/Qualifications:
•PhD in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related scientific discipline is required; a strong background in hepatocyte biology is essential
•At least five (5) years of industrial / pharmaceutical experience preferred
•Distinguished background in technical writing, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications or other technical presentations
•Experience in application development, and familiarity with high content imaging or high throughput screening assays is preferred
•Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills, along with excellent oral and written communication, are necessary
•Ability to work on a fast-paced collaborative team and to adapt to a flexible work schedule is expected
•Thorough understanding of the biopharmaceutical drug development process is needed
•This position may require up to 25% travel
