Novelis is the leader in the automotive aluminum sheet market, supplying to most major automakers in North America. In our quest for customer satisfaction, we provide comprehensive technical support, enabling our customer to integrate our sheet products into their stamping operations. This support includes alloy selection process for a specific application, the stamping development process, and continues throughout the life of the part.

About the Job:

The Sr. Technology Development Manager is responsible for managing complex R&D and engineering projects serving as the single point of accountability between our customers’ and Novelis’s commercial, engineering and manufacturing facilities. This role will build strong teams with the appropriate expertise for the projects under their management. The projects will primarily consist of new product and process development through the point where the plant-based development organization takes the responsibility for launch readiness.

Product and plant qualification may or may not be within the accountability of this role depending on the specifics of the project. This role must be up to date with developing trends in automotive design and manufacturing technology, and communicate back to the Novelis product and manufacturing teams the latest customer needs. This role will also be responsible for internal R&D projects to extend Novelis’s technology leadership.


Specific skills include:

Expertise in engineering project management and coordination with experience leading teams through complex, high paced projects. High level of proficiency in planning and communication throughout a wide range of stakeholders throughout the customers’ and Novelis’s organizations is required.

Demonstrated abilities for problem solving that involves a diverse set of experts that may or may not be in the domain expertise of the incumbent.

Ability to acquire in depth knowledge of the company's development and production capabilities, product portfolio and business strategy for automotive sheet products. It is also expected that the incumbent will acquire a deep understanding of customers’ design and manufacturing methods for components and vehicles.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

Project Management Professional (PMP) and 6-Sigma Black Belt certifications are preferred

BS in Engineering required. Masters Degree or PhD preferred. Ideallly seeking
Mechanical or Metallurgical engineers, but other engineering or science degrees combined with work experience will be considered.

Automotive experience program management and technical development related to metallic materials or components is preferred.

Leadership experience and achievements must be demonstrated

A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience is required.
