Senior Underwriter, Casualty

Job Description
Position Overview
Day-to-Day responsibilities include expand and develop new business opportunities through production & marketing calls with brokers and clients, market to distribution channels, prequalify new business, and utilize underwriting acumen to select sound casualty risks and form opinion of risk.

Essential Job Functions
•Develop and build the Casualty book of business which includes primary, umbrella, excess liability
•Establish, develop, and expand broker relationships in NYC, Long Island, New Jersey, and southern Connecticut
•Underwrite and grow book of surplus lines business
•Ability to work in a fast paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity

Requirements
•5 to 10 years’ surplus lines Casualty underwriting experience
•Experience with general liability, product liability, energy, excess auto, and excess construction.
•Strong underwriting acumen
•Existing wholesale and retail broker relationships
•Ability to work within a team environment
•Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation, communications and presentation experience
•BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience
