Job Description | Essential Duties:
Conduct analytical analysis of each risk using RMS, Microsoft excel advanced functions and other software, tools and systems.
Model and stress test natural catastrophe exposures as well as fire, both on an individual risk basis and at the portfolio level.
Market Company products and services through brokers. Develops ongoing relationships with brokers to discuss market appetite, quality and profitability of submissions, service standards, and underwriting and/or product changes.
Analyze and adjust insurance policy wording to each risk requirements.
Make underwriting recommendations within the company risk appetite and risk rewards requirements to ensure a profitable book of business.
Manage portfolio of risks with a goal of portfolio and returns maximization.
Assist less experienced underwriters in the handling of accounts.
Job Requirements:
Strong analytical skills.
Team work orientated personality.
Ability to effectively and independently manage hard workload while exhibiting sound judgment.
In depth understanding of insurance mechanisms, policy wordings, risk exposure and cat modeling tools.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel including all functions e.g. mathematical formulas and pivot tables.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the company.
Perform other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the company and department.
Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A) in engineering is required. Please provide GPA.
Actuarial exams and/or CPCU or professional insurance designation are strong plus.
7 - 10 years of large commercial property underwriting experience is required.
Understanding and use of RMS cat models are required.
