We are currently looking for an experienced Vacuum Coatings Scientist to join our Science and Technology Center team, located in Carleton, Michigan. As a member of the Chemical Coatings Research Department, you would join a team responsible for the development of PECVD and magnetron sputter coated products. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and introduction of new PECVD technologies to integrate with existing assets. You will also support effort on magnetron sputter product development.

Specific job duties will include:

Researching, developing and implementing new large area PECVD technologies in to our existing asset base of vacuum coaters.

Developing and launching new product solutions at our national and international production facilities.

Identifying key process parameters and conducting efficiently planned experiments.

Leading well planned technology transfer to assure that best practices and new learning are implemented uniformly across the production base.

Ensuring that new technologies are compatible with current coater assets, glass processing techniques, and manufacturing profitability.

Representing Guardian technology to the customer, suppliers, and technical community.

Developing and growing strong relationships with external partners and research institutes in support of our technology and product roadmaps.

Regular reporting of development results and recommended actions to a broad internal audience of leaders, scientists and production staff.

Interfacing with the marketing team, and widespread production teams to develop new product requirements and specifications.

Up to 30% domestic and international travel is required.

Job Requirements :

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and traits:

Advanced Degree in Physics, Materials, Electrical Engineering or related subject.

5+ years industrial experience of managing and leading complex, fast moving technology projects.

Understanding of vacuum deposition processes and materials characterization techniques.

Strong analytical skills coupled with good abilities for presenting and communicating ideas and concepts.

Ability to make decisions and take action under pressure.

Experience of statistical DoE and root cause analysis .
