Position Overview/Summary:
The Sr. Welding Engineer provides expertise and technical support to; manufacturing, sales, product engineering, supply chain, field service, and service centers. The qualified individual will help resolve manufacturing and field issues, direct procedure qualification record and weld procedure specification test, manage weld test related programs, and participate in quality improvement and cost reduction efforts.
Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred):
Required:
BS in Welding Engineering / Materials Science or related degree.
10 plus years experience as a Welding Engineer.
US Citizen - to be able to obtain DoD and work on US government or military projects.
Familiar with low alloy steels and stainless steels providing aluminum welding, stainless steel welding, titanium welding.
Experienced in developing and upgrading Stick, GMAW, GTAW, and Submerged Arc
welding procedures to be used by production personnel.
Able to perform root cause analysis of welding problems and provide corrective actions.
Welding experience in the turbo-machinery, aerospace, rotating equipment, or heavy industry sectors. Familiarity with commercial welding equipment produced by major manufactures is required.
Familiarity with API 617, ASTM, ASME Section IX, and/or NACE MR0175 codes.
Fluent in Microsoft Office Ability to clearly and precisely communicate, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization and with clients. Able to work individually and in teams, be self-motivated, well organized, and able to prioritize work.
Preferred:
MS in Welding Engineering / Materials Science or related degree.
At least 3 years of experience in the oil and gas / energy industries.
Experience in deposition and analysis of weldments, electron beam welding, vacuum furnace brazing and NDT methods, is a considerable plus.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:

Develop welding specifications and procedures for both new and repair combustion components.
Qualify welding procedures to established specifications.
Proven experience with Gtaw, Paw, Gmaw, and Sub-Arc welding. Previous experience welding gas turbine hot section hardware. Knowledge of laser welding systems, developing welding parameters and programming.
Knowledge of vacuum furnaces and heat treat cycles.
Knowledge of high temperature furnace brazing of cobalt and nickel-base super alloys.
Previous experience with the programming for welding applications.
