The Senior Development Scientist participates in the evaluation and implementation of externally developed new technologies that improve internal processes. The incumbent plans and/or performs studies for the development, evolution and optimization of assay(s)within well-defined boundary conditions and timelines; performs and summarizes experiments independently; participates in identifying technical issues and recommending resolution; maintains well organized laboratory notebooks in compliance with relevant procedures; supports post-launch to resolve performance and/or quality issues; may supervise junior scientists; and may publish articles in scientific journals to advance the company´s marketing competitiveness.
Scientists are needed to participate in the evaluation and development of new as well as the support of existing protein chemistries for all Beckman Coulter Automated Analyzers. Qualified applicants should have experience in chemistry, immunology, or biochemistry. Candidates will be expected to assist in the development and post-launch support of key reagents for protein immunoassays. The incumbent will benefit from hands on experience with common laboratory techniques in protein stabilization, latex conjugation, and protein purification. Some knowledge of assay development and process validation is preferred.

Responsibilities:
Lead and or/ participate in the planning and execution of studies for the development, characterization, optimization and validation of key methods and reagents used in immunoassay development.
Learns to develop and track chemistry project plans.
Participates on multifunctional teams and may lead small projects.
Processes and analyzes data using appropriate statistical approaches with limited supervision.
Disseminates information to professional colleagues through reports, presentations or data reviews.
Reviews and approves junior scientist’s work.
Recommends changes to processes, procedures or products internally to the department.
Approves resolutions to manufacturing discrepancies.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; MA/MS with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience in a clinical, research or diagnostic setting with knowledge of assay development is required.
Prior experience working in an FDA regulated industry is required.
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and statistical analysis is required. Experience with Project and statistical packages (example: Mintab) is a plus. |
