Description
The Sr. Director of Global Marketing, Molecular will lead the high volume Molecular products including the Viper, Affirm and ProbeTec within the BDDS business and is accountable for the commercial success of the portfolio on a global basis. This includes the accountability for complete product line planning, including strategy development, market development, product development, portfolio planning, portfolio life cycle management, operational marketing, portfolio profitability and talent management. The incumbent’s opportunity will be to explore and recommend different models and potential partnerships that will lead to increased market share and profitability for BD.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the total customer experience including, the strategic and financial performance of the product/platform area. Leads annual planning process to define and communicate global strategic, product development and operational direction for the product/platform area, and influences multifunctional resources to accomplish business objectives.
Defines and drives execution of portfolio strategy, product roadmap and priorities for responsible market segment. Develops annual and multi-generational product roadmaps, strategic plan and release planning in conjunction and consultation with R&D and operations management team to create robust new product pipeline that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Develops and executes competitive strategies based on thorough competitive intelligence and market analysis. Drives understanding of Global customer knowledge and needs around the product/platform area.
Accountable for achievement of financial goals and expense budgets. Directly accountable for World Wide performance, and responsible for supporting Regions in achievement of their financial goals. Develops annual and quarterly product line revenue projections for the World Wide business.
Effectively partners and collaborates with regional business leaders, R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Business Development & Strategic Planning and other functions to ensure development and execution of marketing and product strategy.
Drives business growth through innovation and quality, ensuring compliance with BDX systems. e.g., S&OP, Global Product Development system, Quality/Regulatory, life cycle management Sustaining Engineering (Quality Aggressor) of products. Uses Global Marketing Powerhouse methodology to develop and implement these plans.
Responsible for Talent Management within the Marketing team. Ensures effective implementation of Global Marketing Powerhouse processes into routine marketing operations and thinking, ensuring all marketing associates are trained, embrace these methods and demonstrate the skills required for GMPH. Ensures required human resource capabilities are in place to successfully execute strategies.
Qualifications
BA / BS degree required; MBA highly preferred.?
Minimum of 10 years progressive marketing leadership experience in a regulated industry (preferably in diagnostics, medical devices and/or pharmaceutical), with a minimum of 5 years international marketing and demonstrated effective P&L and/or budget management.?
Successful track record of leading and developing high performing marketing teams.
Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement commercial strategies, convert
these into tactical marketing plans and deliver results.
Strong leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, lead change and to mentor others.
Speaks up when important information or questions must be raised and takes action when issues must be addressed.
Ability to develop strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, and potential or existing business partners.
Strong leadership presence with ability to utilize organizational channels, experience and influencing skills to persuade others of the course of action, facilitate successful project implementation and effective implementation.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.
Ability to work across all global regions at both an executive and tactical sales/marketing level.
Flexibility to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
