Job Description | Primary Objective of Position:
Oversee the management and development of Medical Communications and Medical Information Services (MIS) staff (internal employees, and outside vendor).
Serve on Medical Communications / Review committees (e.g., MMRC, GRC).
Be responsible for the overall management and coordination of key Elan global and US Medical Affairs program and processes as assigned by Elan
senior management.
Provide support for internal Elan stakeholders including Research, Clinical Development, Commercial, Public Relations, and Product Team Leads to
support strategic and tactical initiatives in support of Elan's product portfolio.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee the overall management of grants funding process for Medical Educational programs.
Lead the overall Medical Communications initiatives including partnering with cross-functional teams to formulate strategies to help support GMA / MIS
initiatives with internal Elan stakeholders, business partners, external clinicians / TLs, and other service providers.
Oversee the general publications process, including the Research and Product-specific Publications Review Committees. (RpubRC and PpubRC
respectively).
Lead the internal Clinical Trials Research Committee (CTRC) activities (investigator-initiated trials) for Elan, and participate in the joint Biogen-Idec and
Elan clinical trials research committee activities.
Lead in the planning and organizing of selected national and international congress activities throughout the year.
Serve on selected Elan corporate committees as assigned by senior management.
Review and updating of Medical Affairs SOPs and Business Practices.
Travel:
An estimated 10% travel may be required. This travel tends to be clustered in certain times of the year and can be scheduled in advance in most instances.
Minimum Education Required:
Requires a terminal degree: MD or Pharm.D.
Minimum Experience Required:
A minimum of 7 years Medical Education and/or health care communications experience, or equivalent in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry. Prior experience working with clinicians, third party services providers, and thought leaders in the execution of job functions is required. Prior experience in managing external industry partner relationships is also preferred.

Ability to manage several global committees and corporate projects and processes.
Ability to work with business partners and manage relationships in the clinical and medical communications areas. |
