Sr. Director, R&D - New Product Development

Job Description
Position Summary:

Responsible for leading a team of R&D Scientists in the development of new innovative products for the IVD market including but not limited to controls, reference materials and bio-collection panels. As appropriate, lead the new product development portion of the Design Control Process. Optimize existing products, specifically but not limited to quality control ACCURUN product line. Evaluate new methods, new technologies and their applications. Contribute to the Tech Transfer process to manufacturing.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree with 5 years experience in new product development of IVD diagnostic products and/or life science products. Must have proven technical leadership of small (3) to mid-size (8-10) R&D teams coupled with an effective high performance management style. Practical experience translating market requirements into product specifications leading to successful product launches is required. Technical experience in human IVD assay development, molecular diagnostics, clinical chemistry and/or next gen sequencing is required. Must have expertise in statistical analysis and innovative product development. Must be well organized and have the ability to carry out multiple tasks and functions simultaneously. Must have proven success at motivating laboratory scientists to meet NPD goals. Prior experience with Stage Gate Process, Design Control and QA/QC regulations desired. Six-sigma training a plus. Extended work hours are necessary in order to meet business demands. Must be successful at presenting results to companies, customers and at scientific meetings.
