About the role:
Skybox is looking for an experienced electro-optical systems engineer with a deep understanding of remote sensing imaging architectures to help us design, build, and test our high-resolution optical imaging payloads. The ideal candidate will have a blend of strong analytical and modeling skills with project and technical management experience. You will provide analysis of end-to-end image quality and performance simulations, and the development of systems requirements. You will help manage payload system development projects and coordinate with our payload and camera system suppliers.
Skills and Experience:
Experience simulating and analyzing end-to-end performance of electro-optical imaging systems (Matlab or Python preferred)
Understanding of imaging system design for space-based systems (radiation, vibration, thermal, etc)
Experience specifying, designing and testing of large aperture optical imaging telescopes (Zemax or CodeV experience is a plus)
Experience managing small teams including resource allocation, scheduling, and technical oversight.
Deep understanding of focal plane arrays and camera calibration procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
BS or Masters in Optics or Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years experience in design of electro-optical imaging systems.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
