Overview:
ATMI is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to help build process capabilities for our gas packaging division and further develop key manufacturing process technologies for the new product development of low/high volume gas products. The candidate’s initial primary focus is 1) support the introduction of new products through the engineering development of key processes 2) critical resource for customer requests pertaining to manufacturing process methods 3) identify, develop and implement process enhancements to improve quality, cost, cycle time. This individual will work closely with our product development teams in a teach/lead environment to ensure efficient integration of product requirements to process specifications. The ideal candidate is a proven process development professional who is energized by fast-paced, high profile projects and possesses both hands-on skills and process development capabilities. This position reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering and is located in Danbury, Connecticut.
Responsibilities:
Identify and enhance/develop processes for gas packaging products;
Prioritize and resolve technical requests from customers within manufacturing;
Lead the technology transfer from new product development to manufacturing, ensuring manufacturing is launch ready in accordance with Marketing requirements;
Utilize continuous improvement tools and techniques (DOE, process mapping Kaizen);
Develop key operating performance criteria, FMEA and SPC controls for manufacturing processes;
Write/maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions and safety reviews;
Develop capital justifications for equipment and technology that either improves or aids in the growth of the business;
Lead projects through completion with the highest regard for project management tools;
Drive root cause analyses and corrective action plans through the six sigma tools, collaborating with quality, product engineering, manufacturing and sales/marketing;
Own the communication process with senior management regarding manufacturing process status;
Provide training and coaching at all levels of the organization;
Be a safety champion;
Ability to travel, 10% domestically and internationally.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will typically have the following skill set:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent;
Lean/Black Belt certification preferred;
5+ years in a manufacturing setting, specifically developing processes;
Experience with working in an ERP/ISO/GMP environment;
BOM/routing proficiency within an ERP system.
Specialty gas manufacturing experience preferred;
CAD proficiency;
Experience handling toxic materials.
