Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description
Orchid Orthopedic Solutions, a worldwide leader in the contact design and manufacture of implants, instruments and innovative technologies for the orthopedic, dental and cardiovascular markets, is looking for a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer for its Oregon Operation.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perfomrdiversified duties to develop cost effective tooling and processes for new products and/or modification of existing products to customer specifications consistent with overall business strategies and initiatives in accordance with established policies, practices and procedures requiring broad knowledge of manufacturing and engineering concepts.

Responsibilities include, but are to limited to:

Develop prototypes, development activities and processes for new product and modified product concepts through product launch per customer requirements.

Design and/or modify products to meet customer specification providing documented product /design solutions

Develop and coordinate changes with stakeholders

Develop customer quotations for new and modified products.

Identify and implement manufacturing solutions related to design and quality failures

Perform design verification and validation

Perform VAVE (Value Analysis Value Engineering) to continuously improve cost and performance

Develop and document product dimensional plans; define dimensional requirements and identify and document shrink factors.

Write procedures for layout and dimensional areas.

Perform data collection and analysis; perform root cause analysis where indicated and recommend improvement activities.

Support continuous improvement and EHS initiatives


Core Competencies

Knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing principles and tools, quality and
diverse manufacturing operations

Attention to detail.

Strong aptitude in analytical thinking; scientific process and problem Solving.

Proficiency in CAD

Advanced SPC skill set

Ability to operate and program CMM equipment, Robots, CNC equipment.

Proficiency with MS programs (word, excel, project, access and visio)

Strong organizational skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Experience/Education

5 years industry experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering or related field.

Strong Solidworks background (certification @ professional level) and a high level of GD&T experience required (CMM analysis and fixture/injection tooling design experience preferred).

Formal Lean/Six Sigma Green and/or Black Belt training preferred.

CAD/CAM, GD&T, ASME Certification desirable
