Sr. Medical Director, Urology

Description
The Sr. Medical Director of Urology & Dermatology, US Medical Affairs, participates in the development of projects and operations in the Medical Affairs Department. Must have a MD degree from an accredited medical school and Board-certification in an appropriate medical specialty (although Urology is preferred) or adequate therapeutic experience in Urology. Previous industry and research experience is highly recommended but not essential to be successful in this position. Responsibilities include 1) planning and implementation of Urology and Dermatology Phase IV studies to support Allergan US strategic initiatives 2) clinical review and leadership of Urology and Dermatology medical education and communications programs, and 3) working with US Therapeutic marketing and Regulatory Affairs to review promotional materials and medical conference activities. In addition, the Sr. Medical Director provides the clinical interface to Allergan Thought Leaders (TL) and facilitates advocacy development.
Oversee the medical strategic communications group for Urology and Dermatology. Develop strategy to support approved products. These recommendations are based upon data collected, maintained and analyzed. Initiates new strategies for additional data collection of information gaps including clinical trials, registries, advisory boards. Provide close support and advisory function to legal, regulatory and clinical development of post approved product safety profile and assist in response to external inquiries. Provide strategic leadership of medical communication services. Maintain Medical Affairs database of clinical trials on Clinical Trials.gov and assures compliance with reporting requirements of all regulatory bodies.
The employee must conduct their work activities in compliance with all Allergan internal requirements and with all applicable regulatory requirements. Allergan internal requirements include compliance with ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, and general business policies, requirements and objectives.
Job Summary:
Develop and implement Medical Affairs Urology and Dermatology Phase IV study plan in support of US commercial organization. This includes developing phase IV initiatives within Urology and Dermatology that support strategic marketing initiatives while further developing Allergan's clinical advocate base along with medical affairs study support. Also responsible for the collaboration with opinion leaders on support studies and other market support publication/educational activities.
Attend Medical Affairs monthly meetings and LMAR process associated with phase IV studies. Lead the Urology and Dermatology therapeutic area review discussions.
Support Marketing in Thought Leader (TL) development and assist in the development of key Therapeutic & Cosmetic Thought Leader (TL) relationships and implementation of strategic initiatives
Provide clinical input in promotional review of Urology and Dermatology products. Work closely with Marketing, Regulatory and Legal in the review of promotional materials and campaigns. Monitor scientific accuracy and clinical appropriateness of Urology and Dermatology communications between Medical Affairs and external physicians, patients and general public
Oversee the medical strategic communications for Urology and Dermatology
Qualifications
Education and Experience
M.D., PhD, or PharmD with speciality training and/or experience in Urology
Familiarity with pharmacological treatment of urology diseases highly desired
Industry experience in development of agents for use in Urology and Dermatology disciplines as well as Medical Affairs experience is highly desirable
Able to speak with great familiarity about Allergan Urology and Dermatology products preferred
At least 10 years total experience
