Job Description
Rudolph Technologies is looking for a qualified Senior Optical Systems Engineer to work on the development team for our award-winning product line of automated inspection tools for the semiconductor industry. This position offers opportunities to participate on many levels of the product life cycle, and to work on an interactive development team.
Responsible for all aspects of optical design engineering including: optical performance analysis, imaging and non-imaging lens design, prototyping, evaluation, testing and manufacturing support of the custom optical machine vision systems employed in Rudolph's suite of inspection products. The Sr. Optical Systems Engineer will support existing designs and develop new illumination and imaging system solutions that satisfy the customer needs associated with the broad range of applications in the markets we serve. This requires a willingness to take initiative and collaborate with others in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Specific Responsibilities:
Independent Optical design work using Optical Design Software (Zemax).
Determine system requirements, translate into optical specifications, design optical system, and tolerance optical system for manufacturability.
Illumination design and prototyping for both imaging and non-imaging systems using LightTools.
Design, analysis and prototyping of solutions.
Integrate solutions into volume manufacturing.
Hands on testing of optical system for defect detection performance.
Design and prototyping using both custom and off the shelf components. Analyze custom versus off the shelf trades when making design decisions. Verify performance in the lab and on tool.
Provide technical assistance to manufacturing and customer service
Provide regular status updates, manage schedules and deadlines.
Manage multiple simultaneous activities. Communicate progress and solicit priority when needed.
Position may include limited domestic and international travel
Requirements
Required Experience:
MS Degree or higher in Optical Sciences or equivalent
10 years minimum optical engineering and design experience
Proficiency with Zemax or equivalent optical design software required.
Proficiency with LightTools or equivalent illumination design software required.
Extensive experience with both sequential and non-sequential ray tracing and tolerance analysis methods, specifically machine inspection imaging and illumination systems.
Hands-on experience with complex optical systems development. Lab and prototype development experience.
Familiar with camera technologies: CCD, CMOS, PSD. Versed in the evaluation criteria and methods.
Familiar with a variety of illumination sources and design concepts: lasers, flash lamps, LEDs, Halogen
Well versed in optical standards Experience with Matlab or suitable substitute for Matlab |
