Job Description | Summary
Assists with the optical and mechanical design of next-generation optical sub-systems for the creation and control of EUV radiation. Performs a variety of engineering tasks including designing, developing, analyzing, testing, troubleshooting and implementing optical sub-assemblies and modules. Develops specifications for optical modules aligned with system requirements, with input from other groups. Creates and evaluates opto-mechanical designs to meet requirements of specified applications. Subsequent activities may include stress and thermal analysis of mounted optics and opto-mechanical tolerancing. Supports the development & integration of innovative core technologies elements and/or system concepts into engineering solutions.
•Able to propose and validate innovative solutions to technical problems
•Ability to develop and review theoretical models
•Validates concepts through breadboard builds and analysis
•Ability to translate, statistically analyze data and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats
•Requirement to report on project progress with excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Familiar with optical alignment methods and tools, including hands-on experience
•Expert in 3D mechanical design software (NX preferred), experience with FEA and/or thermal modelling software (e.g. ANSYS) an advantage
•Experience with configuration management systems (e.g. TeamCenter)
•Hands-on mechanical systems build and qualification, including assembly procedure development and process improvement background
•Experience with optical design and analysis software (e.g. Zemax, FRED) preferred as is experience working with optical engineers
•Experience with opto-mechanical designs operating in adverse thermal and/or vibrational environments preferred
•Solid theoretical and experimental background in some or all of: •Mechanical engineering design
•FEA and/or thermal modelling
•Materials science/engineering
•Adhesives application technology
•Optical systems design
Qualifications
•Requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, optical or related engineering discipline (advanced degree, e.g. MSc or PhD preferred) and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in an applicable field related engineering technology
•Experience with semiconductor capital equipment preferred
•Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and electronic e-mail
