We currently have the following opportunity available for a Sr. Process Engineer in the Noveon Consumer Specialties Process Technology and Sourcing Team located at our Avon Lake, Ohio facility.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:





o Scale-up from lab to pilot plant, and to manufacturing for commercialization of new products for the personal care market. Manufacturing platforms include batch and fed-batch free-radical polymerization in emulsion, suspension, and solution.

o Manufacturing support and troubleshooting.

o Improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce cost.

o Conduct process and equipment analysis, simulation, optimization, and modification.

o Estimate capital and manufacturing costs for purposes of justifying project economics.

o Use and maintain systems associated with Management of Change, Process Safety Management, and Manufacturing Authorizations.

o Assess and implement new process technology, systems, and equipment. Must keep abreast of process technology in order to anticipate next generation and our competitors' process technology.

o Continue to enhance process capability and improve product quality using statistical analysis, and implementation of improved control strategies.

o Organize and maintain databases using tools such as Excel and Access.

o Design, execute, analyze, and report (both written and verbal) on multiple, simultaneous complex projects, following the Lubrizol Stage-gate system of project management.

o Comply with all applicable internal and external Lubrizol and HSE policies.

o Design experiments and analyze data from both the laboratory and pilot plant.

o Direct the work of laboratory technicians.

o Provide technical support for pilot plant operators.

o Participate in multifunctional project teams.

o Up to 15% domestic and international travel to both Lubrizol and Toller manufacturing sites.




SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

o Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Polymer).

o Minimum 10 years process engineering experience in polymer research and/or manufacturing.

o Strong fundamental knowledge of chemical engineering principals with proven problem solving abilities.

o Very strong ""hands-on"" mechanically and chemically oriented process-engineering skills.

o Excellent knowledge of unit operations and process/equipment calculations and design.

o Background with experimental design (DOE) and data analysis, preferably using statistical techniques.

o Experience with process analysis, simulation, and optimization, as well as process economic evaluation.

o Self-starter with a drive and desire to manage multiple projects from start to completion with effective and competitive results.

o Proven leadership with multi-functional task-oriented teams.

o Proven business acumen with ability to choose courses of action that have the highest probability of both technical and business success.

o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Capable of giving persuasive presentations to upper management. Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization.

o Customer focused - responsive to internal and external customers.

o Creative thinker with a proven track record of learning from both successes and failures.

o Proficient with Microsoft office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

CONSIDERED A PLUS:





o MS or PhD in Engineering (Chemical or Polymer).

o Experience with operation and configuration of DCS's.

o Experience with statistical software including but not limited to Visimix, ChemCAD, Minitab, JMP, Aspen and Statgraphics.

o Basic knowledge of polymerization chemistry, personal care industry and cGMP. SALARY RANGE: $80,000 TO $100,000 BONUS ELIGIBLE DOMESTIC RELOCATION AVAILABLE
