Sr. Product Manager

Job Description

Manages the selection, purchasing and delivery of adult and children’s ophthalmic and sun collections for Pearle’s corporate and franchise stores. Manage, train, and develop associates on the product buying team and ensure support of all brand initiatives. Collaborates with the Director of Frame Buying on the development of private label collections and maintains the correct mix of Luxottica licensed brands and third party assortments. Partners with Inventory and Store Planners to develop strategic product inventory plans targeted to the demographic profile of each Luxottica Retail market. Ensures sales and profits are maximized through strategic management of frame mix and assortment principles. Responsible for buying and managing a classification for all stores.


· Work closely with Director of Frame Buying on implementation and execution of strategic brand initiatives

· Manage execution of product strategies and sales plans that will meet or exceed unit and dollar sales plans of sun and ophthalmic frame product in our Corporate locations

· Manage the consignment business model product and assortment strategies for placement in our Franchise locations

· Analyze unit sales, product costs, product mix, price points, etc. to ensure profit margins are maximized

· Execute product life cycle strategies to ensure assortments remain fresh and markdown and job out costs are limited for Corporate and Franchise locations

· Ensure profitability by achieving IMU%, markdown budget, and inventory turnover

· Work with Marketing and Merchandising teams to develop in-store strategies and quarterly marketing campaigns that will maximize the consumer experience

· Analyze competitor information and generate specific plans to achieve competitive advantage – make recommendations for new products to ensure Pearle is a leader in the market place

· Understand the optical marketplace and spot trends to ensure Pearle products remain current and relevant to consumers

· Lead, coach and develop a team of Assistant Buyers and Business Analysts


· Participates in weekly cross functional management reviews

· Communicate effectively within the product team as well as cross functionally with Brand Management, Field Management, Frame Development, Communications, Operations, Marketing and IT

· Effectively manage Vendor relations, ensure compliance on fill rates and on time delivery, and successfully negotiate costs and RTV agreements


· Ability to negotiate and solve problems

· Strong analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills

· Strong general business skills (manufacturing, marketing, planning, production, etc)

· Superior leadership abilities

· Strong oral and written communication skills

· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously

· Strong computer skills (e.g. SAP, MarketMax, Excel)


· Solid business experience in retail buying, sr. buyer & inventory planning – preferably in a vertically integrated environment

· Significant achievement in sales building, cost saving, vendor management and negotiations and process development and/or improvement


B.S/B.A. required, MBA preferred


7-10 years of business experience
