Sr. Program Engineer

Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:

As a global resource and an integral member of the engineering team, the Sr. Program Engineer will manage initiatives within Europe, Asia and North America. This position will coordinate customer liaison, product development, tooling and validation from cradle-to-grave with significant responsibility for program budget and timing. Responsible for mold design, working with customers directly to improve existing designs and using the latest technology to create mold design for tool fabrication.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Lead, manage, and coordinate a complex set of cross-functional activities to define, develop, deliver, and launch products to achieve business objectives that align with the company's and customers strategic goals.

Serve as key liaison to customer and the facilities. Provides customer and intra-facility communication and coordination of activities.

Ensures the success of customer relations and program management through high-level, effective communication among facilities, customers, sales and suppliers.

Manages the partnership by implementing steps to evaluate and measure customer satisfaction and goal attainment.

Analyze, define and present recommendations to best fit customer’s needs based on resources available and sell additional services, as opportunities present themselves.

Participate in the request for quotation proposal process.

Coordinate completion of project details such as drawing and review, preliminary tool design and checklist, advanced quality planning such as FMEAs, project timelines, sampling, layout and submission plans and manufacturing plans.

Organize and participate in off-site and internal customer visits to provide design for manufacturability input on new programs.

Plan the development of new processes and programs for manufacturing.

Responsible to direct and lead the cost estimating process with costing estimator.

Responsible for managing the project management P&L and the objectives to drive results.

Work with tooling in the planning of new tools and fixture designs.

Provide input for new processes and equipment.

Actively participate in continual improvement, corrective action and customer satisfaction.

Coordinate team member activities, component management, fundamental design direction, program problem solving, supplier management and customer interface.

Manage the budget on the programs to insure the ROI and other business objectives
identified are achieved.

Lead multiple teams through the new product development process.

Ability to relate business opportunities back to the objectives of the organization.

Stay current on new and/or updated technology, manufacturing practices and processes related to the core business within the facility.

Understand the use of advanced software and analytical tools such as Mold Flow, Pro-E, and Pro-Mechanica and how to apply them by working with Design Engineering.

Must be familiar with Value-added engineering in the form of Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA).

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in plastics, mechanical or electrical engineering.

Minimum of ten years professional engineering experience in the plastics industry, including seven years of program management experience.

Prefer Program Management certification indicating the necessary training completed from an accredited learning facility.

Thermoplastic and/or Thermoset experience required.

Strong and diverse technical injection molding tooling, materials, manufacturing, quality, and product design skills.

Experience and/or understanding of advanced software and analytical tools such as Mold Flow, Pro-E, Solid Works and Pro-Mechanica.

Ability to evaluate customer 3D part models to assess the part design in order to make it more moldable, yet less costly to the OEM where possible.

Ability to read and interpret documents such are Process Control Specifications, Manufacturing Control Specifications, Material Specifications, Bill of Materials, Drafting standard practices and procedures, Work instructions, Departmental ISO procedures.

Proven experience managing multiple resources and complex projects.

Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), organizational and time management skills.

Ability to identify problems and develop and implement actions to resolve them.

Ability to motivate and influence people to achieve customer satisfaction.

Ability to facilitate effective and timely communication among engineering, design, internal suppliers, external suppliers and customers.
