This person will conduct research primarily in the field of electromagnetics related to Baldor products and possible future products. He/She will develop and maintain the key design tools is also a part of this job.
The Sr. Project Engineer will develop and implement advanced electrical and electromagnetic analysis methods for new electric motor and generator topologies that result in design and demonstration of advanced electric machinery prototypes. They will perform analysis and simulation tasks that include modeling the interaction of motors and generators with existing and new power electronic drives and controls. This person will be part of the team that develops the future generations of electric motors and generators for Baldor Electric Company.
EDUCATION
A Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on electrical and electromagnetic motor and generator analysis is required.
EXPERIENCE
This position requires less than three years of experience but 5+ years of experience in the field is highly desired. In addition, the following are required (unless otherwise noted):
? Experience in electric motor and generator electromagnetic modeling and design.
?Training in the modeling of electric motors and generators, including their interaction with variable speed drives and power electronic controls is required.
? Experience with advanced testing methods for electric motors and drives is desirable.
? Experience with 2D and 3D electromagnetic finite element analysis tools and transient motor/drive modeling and simulation tools is required.
? Demonstrated ability to lead technical project teams is desirable.
Physical and Mental Requirements of this job:
? Must be able to work in both an office and a testing laboratory environment.
? Must be able to travel (10%) as required, primarily to Baldor and ABB facilities, but occasionally to a technical conference or a customer site. |
