Description: Position Description:
The Commercial Lines Underwriter will be responsible for the management and underwriting a $9,500,000 book of business. The book of business includes medium to risk management sized accounts. Lines of business include property, package, automobile, worker’s compensation and umbrella. The underwriter will work closely program partner and brokers to coordinate all aspects of underwriting. The underwriter will be responsible for building relationships with brokers and program partner. The underwriter will be responsible for negotiating price and account management. In addition, this position entails managing profitability, retention, rate and growth. The underwriter will be responsible for conducting renewal review and development of new business for the territory assigned. The individual must be able to work effectively and collaborate with a team of underwriters, underwriting associates, claims and loss control personnel. The position may require periodic travel. The position affords high visibility with key Home Office Line of Business and Customer Group Managers.

Job Requirements:
The above position requires a strong service orientation to facilitate positive relationships with brokers as well as our affiliate account representatives. The potential candidate should have solid knowledge of commercial underwriting and insurance industry practices. He/she should also demonstrate technical expertise, and specific product knowledge. In addition, the individual should possess the following skills/qualities:

Competencies/Technical Skills:

? 5- 10 years underwriting US property, package, automobile, worker’s compensation and umbrella

? Experience in pricing large accounts, use of SIR and deductible and working knowledge of Letter of Credit

? Experience with handling complex accounts

? Proven technical expertise and product specific knowledge

? Strong (verbal and written) communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

? Ability to work independently, show initiative, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills in a team environment

? Solid organizational and analytical skills

? Sound account management skills

? Leadership, mentoring and coaching skills

? Proven, successful sales skills

? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
