The Supplier Assistant Product Manager, reporting to the Category Product Manager, will be responsible for managing assigned supplier product and program initiatives, in addition to managing day to day activities to drive sales and profitability for a specific vendor or set of vendors. This position will provide input into the development of product strategies and is expected to develop and implement tactics to support goals and objectives of the total product category while balanced with the specific supplier objectives. Candidate is also responsible for to work effectively inside United Stationers as a member of the category team, and to act as a liaison between United Stationers and the supplier in the resolution of customer and field issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Develop and manage supplier-specific category initiatives
-Accountable for the design and implementation of supplier-specific programs and promotions
-Provide recommendations on strategic program direction based on sound ROI analysis
-Conduct catalog reviews for customer marketing vehicles and assist Category Product Manager in catalog reviews for United Stationers marketing vehicles
-Conduct on-going market research and analysis to formulate recommendations to the Category Product Manager
-Maintain and communicate pricing on current, new and promotional items
-Maintain contact and suggested replacement and ''cross sell''/''up sell'' database
-Work closely with Category Product Manager and supplier to ensure product specifications are accurately maintained on electronic ordering systems
-Form effective cross-functional relationships with a broad cross-section of United Stationers personnel
-Responsible to work effectively with Product Planning functions within the assigned category
-Responsible for allocation of supplier marketing funding and negotiation of incremental funding to support execution of Category Marketing initiatives
-Provide tracking and Proof of Performance needed to obtain funding
EDUCATION:
-Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or Business required
WORK EXPERIENCE:
-3-5 years marketing experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
-In depth knowledge of technology marketplace and industry trends
-Strong communication skills
-Strong organizational skills
-Strong analytical skills
-Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel,PowerPoint and Outlook
-Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Access |
