We currently have an opening for a Supplier Development Engineer.
Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Candidate will apply statistical data driven analysis and systematic problem solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issues.
Position will focus predominately on mechanical parts and sub components for final system integration
Responsible for establishing the controls and process in the supply base, thus assuring predictable, cost effective, high quality and reliable delivery from suppliers
Implement manufacturing quality systems for the prototype, pre-production, and production builds as defined in the product control plan. Perform capability studies and document the results for all program characteristics, and ensure both external and internal customer requirements are met
Ensure that appropriate statistical methods are utilized throughout the product and process development cycle and deployed into the control plan
Work as part of the NPI team, managing early supplier involvement in design and DFX
Responsible for providing engineering support for new product launches
Drive RCCA at the supplier and continuously manage quality / cost improvement at the supplier
Act as supplier advocate in communicating with the development team. Drive continuous improvement throughout the engineering departments.
Identifies and implements process and product improvement opportunities at the suppliers to reduce manufacturing costs while improving yields and product quality.
Execute supplier advanced quality planning including the following elements: SAQP kick-off meeting, Supplier process sign-off, review and approval of supplier PPAP, develop the measurement system analysis plan and ensure gage studies are conducted.
Provide training on inspection methodologies to ensure accurate and repeatable measurements. Create and verify that systems are in place to ensure appropriate control of incoming product receipt and inspection at Topcon.
Extensive lean manufacturing experience/Six Sigma certification is a plus. Experience in the use of Minitab is a plus.

Skills:
Expert knowledge in the following commodities: Injection molded, sand and die casted, sheet metal, stamped, machined, extruded parts; electromechanical assemblies.
Familiarity with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan standard, FMEA's, PPAPs, Dimensional layouts, gage/fixture design, tests and performance material testing.
Metal fabrication: forming, die casting, stamping. Plastic and polymer fabrication: injection molding, thermoforming, etc.
experience with manufacturing quality system and customer communication activities
Full proficiency in fundamental quality engineering concepts, practices, and procedures
Specific education and training in Quality disciplines including, at a minimum; ISO/TS16949, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans.
Experience:
A minimum of 6 years of experience working with suppliers in an electromechanical manufacturing or quality engineering environment. Automotive or military supplier is a plus.
Experience managing local and overseas suppliers
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Engineering, Quality, Statistics, etc)
Additional Information:
