We have an immediate need for an experienced Thin Film / Coating Technician on our second shift (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) (temp-to-hire) at our Doylestown, Pennsylvania facility.

This is a hands-on role and requires the ability to analyze, diagnose, and manage coating processes for volume manufacturing operations. The selected candidate will safely operate vacuum deposition equipment in a cleanroom environment. Processes include ion enhanced electron beam evaporation and DC magnetron sputtering. The position receives day-to-day direction and support regarding work assignments, trouble shooting, and interpretation of process and quality work instructions.

This position is likely to be filled as Temp-to-Hire. The decision regarding conversion to regular employment would be made within the first three months.

Specific responsibilities include: •Setting up, loading, unloading and safe operation of vacuum chambers following established set up, process, and quality work instructions.
•Inspecting pre-coated and post-coated parts to ensure adherence to specification.
•Measuring coated witness pieces.
•Maintaining vacuum equipment including but not limited to vacuum pumps, vacuum chambers and associated electrical equipment, including preventative maintenance.
•Monitoring deposition processes with manual intervention where necessary.
•Assisting in tasks which require heavier physical involvement, such as changing over coater configuration.
•Providing input on processes and procedures, including suggesting improvements.
•Providing input on design of fixtures and operations.
•Adhering to safe work practices in all aspects of the position.

Job Requirements

Relevant Experience/Requirements:

•Ideally 3+ years experience in optics and clean room environment with vacuum coating equipment, specifically performing processes including ion enhanced electron beam evaporation and DC magnetron sputtering.
•May consider training a less experienced applicant who has a combination of relevant technical education and hands-on experience.
•Trouble shooting of deposition runs.
•Experience working with team of engineers, technicians, and associates in a production environment.
•Possess well-developed trouble-shooting, problem solving, and analytical skills.
•Associates degree in technical discipline or high school diploma with relevant work experience.
•Military and medical electronics manufacturing experience preferred.
•Ability to keep detailed records of all technical work.
•Assist with special projects as needed.
•Ability to train on the day shift for up to the first three months.
•Ability to use computers in a manufacturing environment (e-mail, Windows).
•Willingness and ability to learn new technologies quickly, work very carefully, and pay fullest attention to the details of a process.
•Good verbal and written communication skills.
•Familiarity with optical test equipment and related standards and procedures.
•Ability to perform duties inside a clean room with appropriate gowning, gloves, and paper half-mask when appropriate.
•Ability to lift, with or without accommodation, up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
•This position requires standing for the majority of the workday.
•Willing and available to work overtime as requested to meet task deadlines.
