| Job Description | Oakland Stamping has an exciting opportunity for an experience Tool & Die Repairman. We are currently looking for someone for our afternoon shift in Detroit, MI. The ideal candidate will have experience in the repair of dies for various mechanical power presses. We offer stable employment, competitive wages, and a great benefits package. JOB/TASK FUNCTIONS:
The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. Additional duties associated with this position may be assigned.
•Minimum of 5-8 yrs experience
•Experience/knowledge of transfer dies helpful
•Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges and machinists hand tools.
•Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts and make repairs
•Computes dimensions, plans layout and determines assembly method and sequences of operations
•Performs extensive die maintenance such as rebuilding die sections, retrimming pads and forms and engineering changes on all types of dies
•Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, blanchard and surface
grinder to machine parts and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications
•Lifts machines parts and positions and secure parts on the surface place or worktable
•Smoothes flat and contoured surfaces to fit and assemble parts together into assemblies and mechanisms
•Verifies dimensions, alignments and clearances
•Hand or spot grind Iron to Iron and Metal Out
•Heat-treats tools or parts
•Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures to recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part
•Connects wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components
•Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
•Punctual and regular attendance is required.
•Participates in continuous improvement activities.
•Must have diploma or GED and Journeyman Tool & Die Certificate
•Must have valid drivers license |
