| Job Description | Fabricates and/or repairs precision fixtures, gages, shop aids, and replacement parts to support production operations.
Description
1. Performs all die repair activities in the tool room and at the die cast machine.
2. Reviews and understands blueprints and specifications for machined and/or fabricated parts with special focus on stamping die components
3. Determines the sequence of steps to follow in production of the product and plan the production process, including where and how to cut the work piece, the correct tools and materials for the job.
4. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated, as required.
5. Operates CNC lathe to turn components.
6. Performs precise cutting of tooling, and uses various gages and micrometers as required.
7. Troubleshoots and follows-through with solution to problem
Requirements
? High School/GED
? Degree and/or Certificate in Machine Shop Technology or a Certification/Degree in a related field preferred
? 3+ years Tool Room experience
? Solid experience in operating a variety of manual and CNC controlled machinery to produce precision parts and components to exact specifications
? Ability to review and understand engineering drawings, customer provided part drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts, sequence of operations and set up requirements
? Ability to work primarily unsupervised to complete tasks
? Must be flexible and willing to work any shift schedule, including overtime and weekends as necessary
? Ability to stand, climb, bend, kneel, and stoop to perform repairs of tooling and other die service
equipment for most of the assigned shift in tool room, depending on assignments.
? Use moderate physical effort in the use of hand tools, wrenches, hoists, pry bars, hammers, etc.
? Carry weights of up to 50 pounds occasionally for short periods of times. |
