D&O/EPL Private Company Underwriter
HCC Global Financial Products, is seeking a full time Underwriter. HCC Global Financial Products is a subsidiary of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. This position will report to the Private Company Underwriting Manager out of our Farmington, CT office.
Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for private company underwriting and producing new business in Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability and Fiduciary Liability for HCC Global. Responsibilities will include:
Following underwriting guidelines and maintaining the current book of renewals.
Knowledge of insurance industry; works well in fast paced and very high volume environment.
At least 3-5 years in underwriting, with experience in management liability coverages.
Marketing with monthly goals for new business production.
Reviewing current book for cross sell opportunities and working with other divisions to broaden current book of business.
Understanding of policies with ability to review coverages and compare to competitors' products.
Prepares and reviews all necessary underwriting data, such as, but not limited to, application or binder forms, financial reports, and loss history reports to determine the degree of risk involved.
Must be highly organized with analytical/investigative skills and have the ability to make independent decisions in a fast paced work environment, as well as work with a team.
Communicates in a timely and concise manner with clients to obtain further information, quote rates, or communicate the acceptance or declination of risks.
Provide instructions and information to support staff, as required, for issuing policies and endorsements.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Advanced knowledge of MS Office (WORD, Excel, Outlook)
Strong math skills with ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure by using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Strong, proven organizational skills required with attention to detail
Should have knowledge of forms, procedures and insurance terminology
