Job Description | Monitor Liability Managers is searching for an experienced Underwriter to underwriter our Management Liability and Employment Practice Liability products. In this role you will support the achievement of established department goals related to profit, growth, customer service and producer relations. Evaluate risk characteristics to determine potential business opportunities in accordance with guidelines and philosophy. Develop and maintain assigned brokerage relationships.
Duties:
Broker Management
• Manage the expectations of and communicate underwriting decisions, requirements, and philosophies to brokerage community.
• Maintain producer / agency contact log information in electronic databases.
Underwriting Duties
• Evaluate risk characteristics of submissions to determine business opportunities in accordance with guidelines and company philosophy.
• Price, design and recommend policy format for quoted submissions.
• Review underwriting documents for accuracy prior to their release to brokers and/or company clients.
Product Development
• Provide research assistance in analyzing competitor forms.
• Discuss, analyze and interpret industry policy form and coverage enhancements.
Training Duties
• Assist with training other members of the underwriting and/or support staff on underwriting procedures.
Underwriting Documents Processing
• Receive, accept and follow up for and evaluate additional information for submissions on hold status.
• Follow up with producer to collect accurate lost quotation information.
• Receive, accept and evaluate binder conditions.
Other Duties
• Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Must have a Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 2 years of professional liability underwriting experience.
• Must have knowledge of professional liability insurance policy forms, applicability and issues.
• Must be able to conceptualize and analyze financial states at a college level, as required by product line.
• Must be able to analyze professional liability risk characteristics.
• Good written and oral communications skills, including the ability to compose various types of business correspondence.
• Must be able to manage multiple priorities, have good analytical skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Must be customer service oriented; a team player; willing to learn; organized; detail oriented and flexible.
• Working knowledge of PC’s and other software programs (including Microsoft Word and Excel). |
