|Summary: Responsible for risk evaluation, selection and pricing in a timely manner to produce profitable underwriting results while maintaining a constant positive image in the peer marketplace, and developing positive business relationships.
? Responsible for determining individual risk by analyzing new and renewal submissions and in force business, by reviewing rate adequacy, limits, deductibles, claim history, proper use of form, coverage, acceptable loss ratio, within the scope of the underwriting rules and guidelines and the state mandated insurance laws and regulations.
? Must be familiar with ISO Rules, Regulations, Statues and how they relate to the lines of business handled by the Underwriter and their assigned line of business and territory.
? Provides general agents and staff with the positive guidance and assistance by
communicating and negotiating terms and conditions of discrepancies and recommendations resulting in a positive business relationship.
? Interaction with customers, general agents, internal personnel as well as other external
contacts to assist in providing customer oriented solutions resulting in long term business
? Marketing which may include travel and agent visits to obtain specialized market knowledge and to foster positive business relationships. Keep up to date with market trends in the E&S industry as well as standard lines. Provide presentations via the webinar, assist in the development of marketing material to promote IAT Specialty. Gather market condition information.
? Provides assistance, training and guidance to subordinates and other company personnel.
? Maintaining a profitable portfolio to support the annual objectives as it relates to production and loss ratio.
? Provide administrative support upon request, including but not limited to, monthly reports, budget preparation.
? Submit underwriting request to reinsurance carrier when property requires facultative
? Prepares Certified Copies if policies to the claims Department.
? Performs other related duties requiring the same technical knowledge, skill and degree of
responsibility as required by the underwriting department needs.
