SUMMARY AND SCOPE
The ACE Commercial Risk Services Vice President will oversee all aspects of claims management for the growing Division?s Commercial lines book of business. The claims VP has responsibility for technical, operational, and structural claim functions, reserving authority for claims, as well as providing organizational oversight for 44 direct and indirect claim professionals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Report to SVP of ACE Global Personal and Small Commercial Risk Claims, and confer with ACE North America senior management and executive management on individual exposures, developing trends, and trends within the industry and legal environment

Partner with the ACE North America Claim Practice Structure leaders to manage dedicated Claim Professionals in the Staff handled, TPA handled, and Specialty/Professional Liability Claim areas, providing claims leadership on Commercial Lines losses in Auto, Liability, Medical Risk, Work Comp, Directors and Officers, and other coverages.

Work with the broader ACE NA Claims counterparts to establish a set of Best Practices for CRS Claims Handling associated with oversight of this book of business

Align CRS Claims operational strategies with those of ACE Private Risk Services and ACE Global Personal and Business Insurance, leveraging vendors, technology, and data analytics where feasible

Provide direct and indirect handling of, or involvement in, the resolution of all claims, including high exposure determinations which fall under the CRS Division umbrella

Authorize high dollar reserve and payment authority as appropriate

Manage external counsel assigned to defend policyholders and/or insurer, including the management of allocated loss adjustment expenses associated with such representations

Partner with Underwriting, Human Resources, Actuarial, Finance, Distribution, and
Reinsurance departments as well as with Executive Leadership to provide sound operational claims leadership to growth the CRS business

Create, maintain, and analyze robust claim metrics, executing corrective action plans as necessary

Identify claims trends and communicate to appropriate stakeholders

Lead internal audits of claims files and external audits of law firms, third-party administrators, managing general agents, etc.

Maintain team claim file quality, execute leading claims practices, and ensure claims regulatory compliance, operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment

Travel to local claim offices, conferences, trials, mediations, audits, broker and policyholder meetings, etc., as necessary (travel requirement of 25-50%, depending upon business need and domiciled location)

Utilize software and system applications to register and track claims and to communicate with all stakeholders?including RMIS platforms
Co-manage key department-wide function(s), such as training, talent development, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of seven years of commercial claims experience required to manage a staff of highly seasoned claims professionals responsible for the investigation and ultimate adjudication of claims arising under commercial lines policies
Proven leadership and management skills, including organizational design and implementation strategic leadership
Strong abilities in coverage application, litigation, contractual relationships, 50-state jurisdictional exposures, and high-exposure claims resolution
Superior verbal and written communication skills, including large-group presentation skills
Strong data analytics skills
Four-year college degree or equivalent experience required; MBA or advanced degree a plus
Experience with internet-produced package accounts preferred
